Rooted + Flowing: Tending to Our Lives with Equanimity and Compassion

HYBRID with Tucson Community Meditation Center

“I am rooted, but I flow. All gold, flowing that way.”
― Virginia Woolf, The Waves

How do we clearly see and meet the moments of our lives in the midst of all the joys and sorrows of being human? We can learn to cultivate the heart qualities of equanimity (upekkha) and care (or compassion, karuna).

These two brahmaviharas can help us find rootedness in the profound ability to make space for all of life - the despair, fear, contentment and boredom, uncertainty, joy - and because of that we can gently tend to the movements of the heart and mind.
